   My dear Bijay,  
                               Hope everything is fine there and you are all doing well. I did not get time and will get little time to go through the whole book 'चरित्र -निर्माण' That you have nicely completed.   

                        Now there is difficulty is the font of type , with my eye-sight it is difficult to read the letters so pressed closely. However , I was just turning over the last few pages. Patanjali is included in Mental Concentartion. Did I disscussed in detail so much in connection with Character Building ? Of course there is relation between Mental Concentration and Character Building.  
                        
                  However, I would point out some little mistakes . Page 39, line 5 - 
" सम्पूर्ण विश्व के साथ एकत्वबोध" होना , यह पातंजलि योग की बात नहीं है; वह कहा गया था वेदान्त से , स्वामीजी के भाव से। "

                  Page 40, line 4 : " इस विज्ञान को पतंजलि योग सूत्र कहते हैं" -ऐसा लिखना ठीक नहीं है।  होना चाहिये था--- " इस विज्ञान को योग या राजयोग कहते हैं। इसका मूल शास्त्र है पतंजलि योगसूत्र नामक ग्रन्थ। इस योग को अष्टांग -योग कहते हैं , क्योंकि इसकी पद्धति में आठ अंग होते हैं। "   

               Did you take a copy of the new booklet in Bengali from the camp this time - " अलमोड़ार आकर्षण " ? If you have,  read it . You may see if it can be translated in Hindi ?

   My dear Bijay, 
                         
                             Your letter has just come. XYZ  wrote at least a dozen letters, I replied to each one, but some on the way perhaps got lost. I do not think I got any from Jitendra. 
                   Are XXX relatives really depriving them of their property and troubling him in various way? That is what he wrote .Whatever XXX has been saying or doing , he says or does so,  under the spell of his mental stress. His lack of common sense or outbursts of anger is due to his mental stress. It is not so much necessary that he takes a lot of interest in the study circle or the library. If he does so willingly for his own good it is all right. 
                You or any particular person cannot be held responsible for XYZtroubles . It is very wrong to suggest so. Nobody can lose his head under under influence of somebody else . 
            There who suggest so, do not know anything about  psychic diseases. They should desist from doing so, if they really want XYZ's welfare . Nobody is competent of declare him mad or sane. Are they psychologists ? Try to help him by any Service-job and counseling treatment as far as you can. A Service-job  for him is very much necessary. The next depends on Thakur's Kripa .

                   It is good that your daughter's marriage was nicely solemnized. So, in samsara there will always be trouble and anxiety . If you know my trouble you will be astonished. But I do not want to burden your mind with details.  


              You are right. The artist who painted the pictures for our exhibition in the camp (this year), was thoroughly guided about theme and details of every picture by me. 
    I visited all the spots at Almora (Advaita Ashram: Mayavati) and researched about the details minutely before writing the booklet. That was done only being earnestly requested by the monks there.           

            Atman, though bliss itself cannot enjoy the Ananda unless it gives up its non-duality and takes birth just for that. But without Maya the world cannot be conjured up and duality does not take form. 
            In time and space 'Ananda' gets mixed up with 'sufferings'. मनीषा or buddhi can reject suffering and take only Ananda. That is possible only by man. Suffering is not intentionally dumped on man, it comes in the process of creation. 
          But without creation Atman cannot enjoy bliss , This is Maya. Where there is 'KNOWING' there is no 'suffering' . Therefore, it not like Hot Ice. If you say some body has had 'Knowledge' , yet he is suffering that will be Hot Ice ie. something like a castle in the air

Advaita Ashrama, Mayavati, is a branch of the Ramakrishna Math, founded on 19 March 1899 at the behest of Vivekananda, by his disciples Captain James Henry Sevier, and Charlotte Sevier. Today it is publishing the original writings of Vivekananda. As an ashram dedicated to the study and practice of Advaita Vedanta, no images or idols are worshipped there, not even of Ramakrishna; and no images were kept in the premises according to the Ashram ideals set by Vivekananda.
Captain James Henry Sevier who had served the British Indian Army for five years and his wife Charlotte Elizabeth Sevier, met Swami Vivekananda in England in 1895. In 1896, the Swami and the Seviers travelled for several weeks through Switzerland, Germany, and Italy.In the Alps, Swami Vivekananda expressed a desire to have a mountain retreat for monks in the Himalayas.

 In December 1896 the couple went to India to follow the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and with a plan to buy a place near Almora and set up an Ashram similar to what Swami Vivekananda had described.The Seviers purchased land near Almora in 1898. Set amidst deodar, pine and oak forests; the land had been a tea farm and estate.

With the help of Swami Swarupananda, the ashram was set up, along with a small dwelling for the monks, ashramites and the Seveirs around the same time as the Belur Math was being established near Kolkata. They moved in on 19 March 1899, the birth anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna that year.

The publication of the Swami's English journal Prabuddha Bharata was suspended in May 1898 after the death of its first editor, 24-year old B. R. Rajam Iyer at Chennai. Swami Vivekananda asked Sevier and his wife to revive the magazine, and the editorship was given to Swami Swarupananda, who became the first head of the Ashram upon its opening on 19 March 1899, but also remained its editor, at its new base, until his death in 1906.

In a letter to Swami Swarupananda, editor of Prabuddha Bharata, Mayavati, Swami Vivekananda wrote the following letter and recommendation on the way the Ashram was to be conducted:

MY DEAR S,
             I have no objection whether Mrs. Sevier's name goes on top or mine or anybody else's; the prospectus ought to go in the name of the Seviers, mustering my name also if necessary. 
            I send you few lines for your consideration in the prospectus. The rest are all right.I will soon send the draft deed.The lines for the prospectus are given below:

          " In Whom is the Universe, Who is in the Universe, Who is the Universe; in Whom is the Soul, Who is in the Soul, Who is the Soul of Man; knowing Him — and therefore the Universe — as our Self, alone extinguishes all fear, brings an end to misery and leads to Infinite Freedom. Wherever there has been expansion in love or progress in well-being, of individuals or numbers, it has been through the perception, realisation, and the practicalisation of the Eternal Truth — THE ONENESS OF ALL BEINGS.
               "Dependence is misery. Independence is happiness." The Advaita is the only system which gives unto man complete possession of himself, takes off all dependence and its associated superstitions, thus making us brave to suffer, brave to do, and in the long run attain to Absolute Freedom. 
        Hitherto it has not been possible to preach this Noble Truth entirely free from the settings of dualistic weakness; this alone, we are convinced, explains why it has not been more operative and useful to mankind at large. To give this ONE TRUTH a freer and fuller scope in elevating the lives of individuals and leavening the mass of mankind, we start this Advaita Ashrama on the Himalayan heights, the land of its first expiration.
             Here it is hoped to keep Advaita free from all superstitions and weakening contaminations. Here will be taught and practiced nothing but the Doctrine of Unity, pure and simple; and though in entire sympathy with all other systems, this Ashrama is dedicated to Advaita and Advaita alone.
     Captain Sevier died on 28 October 1900, while the Swami was out of India and the Captain was cremated in the nearby river Sarada, according to Hindu traditions as he wished. Swami Vivekananda visited the ashram from January 3-18 1901, primarily to console Mrs. Sevier. Where the Swami stayed has been turned into a library. Mrs. Sevier continued to live at the Ashram for several years.

कल्याणीय विजय , 
                           तुम्हारी १५ दिनांक की चिट्ठी मुझे आज मिली, बहुत अधिक व्यस्तता के कारण अब मैं ज्यादा पत्र नहीं लिख पाता हूँ। नोखा में प्रैक्टिस करने वाले तुम्हारे मौसरे भाई (साढू-डॉ विजय) की मौत का खबर सुनकर दुःखित हुआ। गया में काम होगा तो अच्छा ही है।

 कैम्प के बाद बची हुई राशि को केन्द्रीय संस्था के लिए भेज रहे हो, जानकर प्रसन्नता हुई।  

                       शरीर ही धर्म का पहला साधन है। शरीर से ही सब कुछ मिलता है। इसीलिये शरीर को झट से न छोड़ना। दुष्ट अहम् काल में चला जायेगा। किन्तु कल्याणकारी कार्यों को करने के लिए जितने अहम् की जरूरत होती है, वह तो रहना चाहिये। 

                   आत्मा किसी का दास नहीं है, न प्रारब्ध का न संचित का ! जब ज्ञान आ जाता है, तब कर्मबन्धन टूट जाता है। कर्मफल के बारे में कभी न सोचना। इतना मान लो कि जो अपने को ठाकुर और माँ की सन्तान समझता है, उसके लिये कर्मफल बेकार है। मैं तो उसे बिल्कुल भी नहीं मानता हूँ।  

                    तुम्हें डॉक्टर के पास नहीं जाना पड़ेगा, यह तो बहुत अच्छी बात है। परन्तु 'अन्दर की शान्ति भंग नहीं होना, और हृदयहीन होना ' --इन दोनों में बहुत फर्क है। 

                    सहनशील रहते हुए भी कुशाग्र -बुद्धि (acumenपर अधिकार प्राप्त करना सम्भव है। कुशाग्रबुद्धि और सहनशीलता - ये दोनों परस्पर विरोधी नहीं हैं। ये दोनों अलग -अलग गुण हैं, और दोनों को रखना चाहिये। जो निर्बुद्धि है, उसकी सहनशीलता का कई मतलब ही नहीं होता है। 'पुरुषकार' तो और एक तीसरा गुण है, जिसके बिना मानवजीवन - व्यर्थ हो जाता है। 
                
                  स्वामी जी में पुरुषकार कितना था ; पर उनकी सहनशीलता भी आकाश जैसी थी। यदि तुम यह समझते हो कि 'पुरुषकार' - संचित को भी नष्ट कर सकता है, तब तुम स्वामी जी को भी कुछ समझ सकोगे। यही सत्य है, मान लो

                    केवल गृहस्थ ही क्यों संन्यास में भी त्यागी होना बहुत ही कठिन है। श्री रामकृष्ण देव कहते थे - 'एक कौपीन के वास्ते क्या -क्या हो जाता है !' गृहस्थ के लिए यह और कठिन है, पर धीरे धीरे सम्भव हो जाता है ---मैंने अपने जीवन में खुद देखा है। 

                     XYZ ने मुझे झुमरीतिलैया से ही एक पत्र भेजा था। उसमें केवल वहां की इकाई के अध्यक्ष के बारे में कुछ आशंका उसने व्यक्त की थी। उसको तुमने जो कुछ बताया वह ठीक ही है, किन्तु -" मुझसे तब तक मत मिलो" --इतना कहना भी प्रेमविरोधी माना जायेगा। 

                      फुलवरिया, बरही, हजारीबाग, बसरिया आदि से जो लड़के आ रहे हैं, उनसे पता चलता है कि कुछ खास काम बनने वाला है। उनको हर प्रकार से मदद देते रहना उचित होगा। 

                      बहुत से लोग मुँह से कहेंगे कि महामण्डल का काम बहुत अच्छा है, लेकिन कहने से भी वे काम में भाग नहीं लेंगे। इससे नाराज न होना। ऐसी ही संसार की गति। 

                  अब तुम्हें और जितेन्द्र को कैम्प में आवश्यक कार्यों में लगना पड़ेगा। उद्घाटन सभा में जितेन्द्र बोलेगा। अनुवाद आदि कार्य तुमसे होगा।

May dear Bijay, 
                                 I received your long letter of 3rd February a few days back. Your doubts seem to be same as you have been experiencing., from time to time .
            
               No doubt without 'Vairagya' one can not be completely fearless . Bhartriharihari has said -वैराग्यमेवाभयम्‌ But even Sanyasins often are not found to have real Vairagya. So don't hurry for it. 

Swamiji said, 'First Bhog and then Yoga or Vairagya'. If you try Vairagya when you are not fit for it, you will lose both. That is not a good idea.

                 So, you have to look after your business, kids and day to day affairs. Do that with great care. If you cannot do it, know that Vairagya will not help you. I have repeated these again and again , but you have not yet understood.  

                   You need not try to convince everybody or look for cooperation from all. It will never come. It does not come from the world.  If you study Swamiji , you will know this. 

               Better read Mahamandal books repeatedly and clearly before you try to understand Swamiji. Swamiji said many things for all kinds of people, but everything is not for everybody. Do not commit this mistake that the highest teachings of Swamiji are for you now

                  Don't worry. You have repeated almost the same things about which I wrote several times in the past. Do you think you can shake off your attachment to Body -mind at one moment ? No, it is not possible. And trying to do that you are losing your peace and practical efficiency .  If you do Mahamandal work without emotion, I assure you will get Mukti in the long run . But if hurry for it now you will lose everything. 
                   
                       As you will not be allowed to do Swamiji's work without doing service to family, common logic will ask you to do family work first, so that you  can do some work for Swamiji.  Self-restraint does not mean keep aloof from wife , children, parents. Who has taught you such wrong things ? Even Thakur did not say so. Lead a normal life of a householder and do Swamiji's work.

           Time will come when when you can detach yourself from this . I take the responsibility to guide you suitably at all times. Give me your destiny in my hands. Don't think about it again.    

                       Translating into Hindi all the Mahamandal books is an important work.Do as much as you can. But, your wife is quite right when she reminds you of your duties to family, first. This is what the Mahamandal prescribes. Thank her for this reminder, she will then help you in your work

                     Yes, life after life we should desire to work for Swamiji's ideas. I am happy to know that Jitendra has changed.  Have you recognized the the medicine that worked ? It was nothing but Love ! I am very happy to know that a great change has come in all members of the unit there. 

                  Some people will cut jokes, That was the case with Ramakrishna and Vivekananda also. You are expected to swallow these and make no replies. A great western thinker said; ' Some insane persons are necessary to keep the- 'Sanity of the World.' What do fools understand about it ?

My dear Bijoy, 
                                        My love and blessings to you all on the occasion of Dussehra. Your letter and report dated 20th Oct have been received. Glad to know that  during Durga Puja a lot of books were sold. Try to print Mahamandal publication in Hindi as far as possible. 
                    
               I am writing this with difficulty. I cannot write many letters now. But If Upendra Singh (Janibigha) writes to me . I will reply. It is not possible for me to initiate correspondence and advice to start a study circle. 
                    
           Let them come to the All India camp. Make copies of the camp form and circulate them as widely as possible. Hope you have already got the forms in the meantime. 
                      As regards the account for the State level Camp, the expenditure for 'Health and Sanitation' appears to be very high. What is the reason
                  
                       Permanent assets should not have been made from the camp accounts, Without approval of the Camp Committee and the Central Organisation . What are you going to do with the surplus money? Previously this was given to the Central Organisation, You should consider this 
                  
               About your personal things - I am writing the letter myself only because of these- I will tell you that it seems you have not yet digested Thakur and Swamiji's message. That is why again and again you talk of - 'संसार स्वप्नवत।

                Samsara is very much real according to their teachings which has corroboration in the Shastras also. Thakur once ridiculed a Sannyasin at Dakshineswar who said-" Samsara is maya" . If you also really feel depressed you should consult a doctor. I know medicines can work wonder in such cases. but if this is not the case .... Be practical. Remember what Swamiji said - " If you want to learn Chemistry you must go to a laboratory"***   
          
                   Thakur asked us to lead worldly life like player in a drama . We are to do that . Escapism is no answer . Thakur assured the Holy Mother that if she wanted the world He would live just like a common house-holder with children etc. 
     Remember these things. You must marry  your daughter befettingly. That is the duty of a father. You cannot avoid it. Thakur gave the example of women  of the carpenter family selling flattened rice.  How alert she was while doing her business ?
                   ["The pestle of the husking-machine that flattens the paddy constantly falls into the hole of the mortar. The woman turns the paddy in the hole with one hand and with the other holds her baby on her lap as she nurses it.
            In the mean time customers arrive. The machine goes on pounding the paddy, and she carries on her bargains with the customers. She says to them, ‘Pay the few rupee you owe me before you take anything more.’
                You see, she has all these things to do at the same time — nurse the baby, turn the paddy as the pestle pounds it, take the flattened rice out of the hole and talk to the buyers. This is called the yoga of practice.
          
               Fifteen parts of her mind out of sixteen are fixed on the pestle of the husking-machine, lest it should pound her hand. With only one part of her mind she nurses the baby and talks to the buyers. 
           
                 Likewise, he who leads the life of a householder should devote fifteen part of his mind to God; otherwise he will face ruin and fall into the clutches of Death. He should perform the duties of the world with only one part of his mind.

             In financial matters there are sometimes ups and downs .You should swim on the waves . In business you cannot always be absolutely truthful. That is why the Sanskrit term of Business is,' सत्यानृत'- "truth and untruth combined" .
(‘सत्यानृतं तु वाणिज्यम्’- मनु ने सत्यासत्य को-अर्थात सत्य और असत्य संयुक्त को वाणिज्य माना हैसरल अक्षरों को पढ़ना सीख जाने के बाद संयुक्त अक्षर को भी पढ़ने का अवसर मिलता है !) 
For livelihood that is not अधर्म। Best burrito does not help here. You need not ask for anything of Ma or Thakur.  Ask for ज्ञान and धर्म  What is needed for family life you can have them by पुरुषकार ***  
                      Rajat appeared to be quite well he knows his medicine. Ask him to take them if necessary. Depression should not be allowed to continue.     
      
                Mahamandal cannot spread quickly. It has to be slow. That is good. Not only there , everywhere youths are going crazy with often seen a tendency .This is a worldwide phenomenon . That is why if you have marked , during the camp there I was studying a big volume on Abnormal Psychology.
                   
                  I see a very bright fortune for India and gradually for the world. This will come after Laloo's, Jyoti Basu's , Narsimha Rao's ,Biju's are gone They will not easily go, but they have to , When the new generation rises.
                 Don't be with that poet to see everything in this life. This life is for work hard to usher in the great future. 

             May Thakur protect you.

P.S. While returning from Jhumri Telaiya we were troubled at the station got into a wrong compartment .It was zam pact .We had to stand in the thick with bags in hand. After several attempts only at 1.30 am we reach to the right compartment . Where our berths were occupied by others. There was no TTE. After much persuasion we got berths late 2 am.

                                    I think you have received my reply to your last letter with which you sent the report of the State Camp. Hope things are going on well there and you all working hard in hand with heart. 

                          I hope you will attend the All India Camp with a large contingent. This year again at Panskura. You have certainly got the camp forms and distributed them widely.                      
            This is to remind you that you have to take the task especially to render into Hindi the 'Evening Talks' at the Camp that will be given in Bengali. You are very good in that as we have seen many times. 

                        Here it is difficult to get Hindi Speakers and particularly on the inaugural day, having coincide with the birthday of the Holy Mother, Sadhus may not be available for the day. 

                      About a Hindi Speaker at the inaugural meeting, I am thinking of Jitendra Singh , so tell him about it. He will speak 15 minutes.
               He may speak on Swami Vivekananda as understood and taken up by the Mahamandal --that is man-making aspect of his teaching without which there cannot come any change in the society today. Where morality have been devalued and Patriotism has been forgotten, where self-interest predominates the general good of the masses .                   
            Reply to this letter as early as possible so that I can finalize the program soon. My health condition is not at all good. I am not even going to City Office. But I  have to work hard at home arranging everything on phone and by writing letters

स्नेहास्पदेषु

                     मेरी तबीयत अच्छी नहीं चल रही है। फिर बहुत दौड़ना भी पड़ता है।  तुम्हारा पत्र मिला , तुमने लिखा कुछ सदस्य पाठचक्र के विषय में कुछ परिवर्तन करना चाहते हैं।  कैसा परिवर्तन ? पाठचक्र के विषय में विवेक-जीवन में काफ़ी निर्देश है। समस्त महामण्डल इकाइयों को उन्हीं निर्देशों का ठीक ठीक पालन करना चाहिये। 
          हमलोगों को केवल दूसरे महापुरुषों के जीवन ही क्यों , यदि सम्भव हो तो और भी बहुत कुछ पढ़ना चाहिए। लेकिन ये सब विषय पाठचक्र में नहीं पढ़कर घर में पढ़ना चाहिए। 
                पाठचक्र में केवल उन्हीं विषयों पर चर्चा होनी चाहिये , जिससे युवाओं को अपना जीवन गठित करने का मार्गदर्शन प्राप्त होता होमहामण्डल का काम केवल अच्छा मनुष्यों बनने में सहायता करना है। बहुत ज्यादा देने से पचेगा नहीं। इसका फल होगा मार्ग के विषय में सन्देह।  
               किसी राजनीतिज्ञ से, चाहे वो प्रधान मंत्री ही क्यों न हों, चरित्र-निर्माण पद्धति के विषय में सुनने की इच्छा पूरी नहीं हो सकती है। इन लोगों का लक्ष्य और कुछ है। इनका उद्देश्य देश के भविष्य, युवा पीढ़ी की उन्नति करना नहीं है। इसलिये हमारे देश के लिए इस समय जो करना उचित है, महामण्डल वही कर रहा है। इससे अलग और कुछ करने की जरूरत नहीं है। 
         मैं लगातार टूर में रहता हूँ। इसीलिए ज्यादा नहीं लिख पाता हूँ- दुःखित न होना।

My dear Bijoy, 
                           This day a hundred and one years ago Swamiji sailed for the West ! Today I receive your letter along with some reports after a long long time. It seems you have forgotten us . What about your nephew ? You have not mentioned about the sad affair.  
                  In this letter I also include official matters as I am not keeping well and not going to City Office even. 
                         You suggested 23 to 26 September for your camp. Biren wrote a letter confirming this, but there was no further letter from you which was worrying us all these days. Persons who will go will be decided later, it can not be settled now. 
                       At the annual camp the date for the workers Special Training Camp in March was announced. The next such camp will be held on 2nd and 3rd July. Notices are being regularly sent to you
                           The Vivek Vahini camp is going to be held from 3 to 6 June at Balibhara (Naihati). The workers camp will be held at the New Premise of the Mahamandal at Konnagar , it was held there in March (1994) also

                            A larger edition of the book on Character Building has in Bengali (Charitra Gathan), you may be knowing. If anything in Hindi comes, it is better to translate from enlarged Bengali edition and not from the shorter Bengali book on the subject.  
                            
                            What advice can I give for publishing the Hindi edition soon; It depends on you. When ready some money we may give, if you need , but all voucher etc should be kept and account of all books
               
                       Why did you send the report in the printed form so late, you must be knowing this has to be submitted every year by the first week of April, as clearly printed on it and not with the reports after the Annual General meeting
                    The rules and regulations of the unit is not a thing to be circulated to the individual members. Why did you do this ? You may circulate only things which are expected of the members. The Memorandum of  Association and Regulations is given at the time of affiliation and not before that.
                     In the annual general meeting the annual report and accounts must invariably be placed, because the last committee is responsible for it. Without these how can you leave them and form a new committee. This is meaningless and irregular
                        Only one minute (book) may be there. How have two --one for the committee and another regarding the position of accounts --have been sent ? You could have had a meeting to discuss the problem of accounts and held the annual general meeting when the accounts were ready. Yet after all you have sent some sort of an account . How have you made it and the minute do not indicate that this was passed by the annual general meeting, which is a must.

           So you are still have dispute regarding posts in the organization. It is a wrong idea that the posts should be held by young people, who know nothing about how to run an organization.  

                 It is also not correct that the Secretary and the Permanent Representative should not be the same person. Rather the Secretary himself should be the Permanent Representative. Only when it is not possible for him to act as the P.R. somebody else may be selected for the position
                  
                  You have also confusion about the Cashier and the Treasurer. We normally have a Treasurer. His duty is to keep money in safe custody, to keep accounts book, vouchers etc. and make payments according to the advice of the Secretary .
                    Treasurer himself cannot sanction payments . It is the duty of the Secretary , who is responsible to the committee which is to control the finance of the organisation, plan for collection of money , make a budget and have overall control .Day to day or on special occasions , the Secretary has the power to sanction expenditure within the overall budget. In some cases there is a Cashier just to handle cash under the direction of the Treasurer . He is not elected like the Treasurer. Preparing the accounts is the job of the Treasurer.

                I think I have made all points clear . What is more important is to understand the teachings of Swami ji and the ideas of the Mahamandal. Time is short .
                    We must not quarrel for little things but work sincerely and with enthusiasm.The condition in the whole society is lamentable. We can not imitate the political animals eating into the vitals of the society. It is not meet to a while away time in cultural modernity . Rise from the petty matters and work hard with sincerity. 
                    You have not mentioned anything about 'Vivek-Jivan'. Are you getting ?

My dear Bijay,
                           Perhaps you do not know, for some time I am in very bad state of health.  
                        Yet after the five day programme in Calcutta to celebrate the centenary of the Chicago Parliament I had to go to Orissa for another Parliament , then to Madhya Pradesh for state level camp. And then again to Orissa for the state level camp and the Golden Jubilee of Utkal University. 
                      Immediately on my return I had to be out in connection with the death of a relative. Only yesterday I came back and in the meantime the postal strike was also going on . 
                 So this is the earliest I could reply to your letter dated 22 November which brought the very bad newsNow also we are in the thick of the ensuing all India Camp. Hope you will come there and we shall have an opportunity to talk in details. 
                To live in the world we must retain our Aham. Did not Thakur shed tears on many occasions when he heard  some death news etc.? The country has gone to dogs. Violence , kidnapping, extortion and things like that are everyday affairs. There is no government or administration anywhere .Only there are politicians and there is the farce of democracy and elections.
               Religion has vanished and it is being used for political gains. Hard atheists are also taking the name of Swami Vivekananda and even of Sri Ramakrishna at times , but just to cheat people.  
                     So you found some honest Police Officers in Lalu's Bihar ! What can be more astonishing ? But such an incident is not enough cause to say good-by to this rotten world. It has to be improved. That is why Thakur, Ma and Swamiji came
                       
The world is to give you blows , did you not read in Swamiji ? The world is neither cruel nor benign. It is what we make it. Be not a ball at the feet of the world. If you are not, it will not kick you any more
                          Did the Police do anything sincerely ? That is what is necessary. They must be able to find some clue. What are they for then, if they cannot do it ? I can understand the condition of your sister and bother-in-law and also your own condition. 
                      But only you can move following the normal channels of crime detection. There are now private detectives everywhere . The Government agencies failing, you have to engage  them. They are far more efficient than any Government agencies .Did you try that ? 
                 Advice your sister in the matter . At least they will be able to give some clue, if they cannot find the boy. They will not say , nothing can be done, as your honest Government or the honest Police say
                It is true that all power is in you.But that does not mean that you will bring out the boy. You will remain calm for proper action. Take the action I suggested.
                    At the moment you have lost the chain of arguments and that is you ask, what shall I do for Bihar with the Mahamandal ? If you cannot cure the diabolic (पैशाचिक) , you can minimize their number,  by making more men of the right type
                        The shirker (शर्कर-कायर, युद्ध के समय पीठ दिखाने वाला।) 
 says, everything is being done by God to escape from his duty. It is good for sadhus to say so and relax. It is not for the man in the society.
                   You are talking in the vein Arjuna talks to Krishna on the battle field.It does not behove you. Weep if you can, but do not be emotional .That robs you of your power
                  Why , you can also pray to Thakur for help. Why do you look at your family as yours only ? Meditation is difficult . What helps is contemplation. Attempt to meditate is only to calm the mind and not to find the solution
                   
        Who are you to allow the body to die? It will die when its work is finished. Don't hurry.
